Database table issues

Database table issues

Postby Ultima » 23 May 2013, 23:15

I notcied ALOT of tables in my database. (990 for a few maps with 90k players)

Every map has a table, i can live with that.
Every map rating, inbox, message (which is empty, why make it then?) has a table.

You can place all the following things together in 1 table. Like all the ratings in 1, all the inboxes, zones, messages etc.

Something for rating:
<mapname> - <username> - <vote>

etc.

Can you optimise this?

Unfortunately MCLawl database handling wasn't too good to say the least. In MCDzienny I improved it a lot, but not everything has been cleaned up. Anyway, in the newest command I made - /mymap I already use single tables for multiple maps. I could extend this behaviour to other map types. It would increase the maintainability of the database, yet it's not really vital. And, it would also require to find a way to copy data from an old to a new structure. Apart from the higher maintainability I don't expect any significant performance gain. So, although the idea is good, due to time required and limited benefits it won't be implemented anytime soon.
