Quite Urgent

Quite Urgent

Postby Breakdown901 » 08 Jun 2013, 15:48

Hey, only recently has this started to happen but it happened a while ago. My computer would just switch itself off. My Dad cleaned the CPU fan and everything has been wroking fine for about 4 months. It started happening again today and I have 2 servers open and its making my CPU go past 70%. About 5 times it has went to 100%. Is there anyway I can change a setting to stop the CPU going so high?

Are you fully updated? A memory leak was fixed in one of the recent updates.

Are you updated to 1.0.3.0.0? The memory leak was fixed in like last update or this update. May be a bug or a glitch that causes CPU to get crazy.

Yep, my servers are fully updated. I usually have all 4 up and its fine, so having 2 up and something happening is quite odd.

Memory leaks are usually not a problem with respect to the CPU usage, as memory allocation doesn't typically affect the CPU performance (unless extremely large amounts of data were stored to RAM very quickly).

However it could play a small part in your problem, so as they said above, ensure you have updated to fix the memory leak.

Now the most important factor here which you haven't mentioned, is the source of the high CPU usage. Open up your task manager and take a look at the running processes, from this point you can analyse whether it is actually due to your servers, or if it is actually from other processes.

If this is a one-off problem, then just restart your server/restart your PC and ensure everything is running smoothly before running the server again.

Yep I checked before I posted this, one of my servers is at 18,000K and other is 22,000K. Not sure what it means though.

That is the amount of RAM memory it is using, you must look at the 'CPU' column.

Ok it isn't the servers then. It says it is Google Chrome, but it goes straight up to 100% even when I'm not using it?

The process more than likely still runs when you are not using the browser. Try manually ending the process from the task manager and then opening google chrome up again. If this doesn't help, maybe something with google chrome is causing it.

You can try re-installing it and seeing if that helps. Also, review all of your plugins for the browser, as these can sometimes go pear-shaped. You can go to the icon in he top right > tools > extensions > browse your plugins, and disable any which may be causing a problem which you don't need.

Same thing happened to me since I had my computer overheat a lot. It could be something wrong with the motherboard or something. I am getting my computer fixed, its still getting fixed.
