xWoM in Ubuntu problems

xWoM in Ubuntu problems

Postby HeyMan7 » 08 Jun 2013, 07:21

Hello, I recently decided to use Ubuntu instead of windows. I followed your linux tutorial on how to make xwom work. It works great, What's even more surprising is I used to get 19-30 fps, now I get 49-60 fps.
First question: Why does wom preform better on ubuntu than windows?
Second: Whenever I close xwom, it, for some reason, turns off my second display.

Specs: Asus Laptop. Dual booting Ubuntu 12.10 with wubi and Windows 7 Pro. 4GB ram. Pentium Dual Core processor.

Any helpful info would be nice. Thank you.

Maybe it's about graphic card drivers. There's a tiny chance that drivers for Ubuntu are better than for Windows. But still it seems so unlikely. Maybe try to run xwom under Ubuntu without these variables
Code: Select all
-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Dsun.awt.noerasebackground=true -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false -Dsun.java2d.opengl=false -Dsun.java2d.pmoffscreen=false
and check if there's any difference in performance.

I don't have even a slightest idea. Sorry.

You may check if your graphic card drivers are up to date, and if not update them. That's all.

Java 6.
If you have Java 6 and xWoM 2.0 then don't move the cursor as fast or play fullscreen.
It happens when you move the cursor extremely fast and you click outside xWoM.

I have both java 6 and java 7. It happens every time I click, no matter how fast nor slow.

Dzienny, please help. I've asked a wise friend of mine and he could not figure it out.
The problem is the Menu popping up everytime I click.
